President's Message

Dear friends,

We all know that psoriasis can be a devastating disease. The obvious plaques and scaling of psoriasis can lead to embarrassment, social isolation and feels of anger and frustration. The burden of disease, both physical and psychosocial, can weigh heavily upon one’s shoulders. The theme for this year’s World Psoriasis Day, which is in October 08 places emphasis on the burden of disease. It is to raise awareness that Psoriasis is a debilitating disease and not just a cosmetic one. One of the greatest enemies of Psoriasis is ignorance – public ignorance. This leads to discriminatory and avoidant behavior which adds to the burden of psoriasis. Unlike diabetes, strokes and cancers, diseases which enjoy widespread media coverage, psoriasis is often marginalized and there is generally poor public awareness of this disease.

We hope that in this coming World Psoriasis Day, we can raise awareness of Psoriasis and let the public know more about this disease. Please look out for the details of World Psoriasis Day programme. Do bring your friends and relatives, so that they too can learn more about the disease. We look forward to your continual support.

God Bless.
